Congratulation for voting the age reduction to 25 years by the Somaliland parliament.. Also the uper house of elders {Gourti} was approved the age reduction, and only the president waiting to sign and approve, and we hope that he will do as the youth want.

SOYVO conducted graduation ceremony held in Barwaqo Hotel in Burao on shaqodoon program, which have been completed their courses in different topics such as; work readiness, accountant, and office administration skills for job preparation, 60 students have been graduated the program in 10 months.

Solid west management awareness campaign

SOYVO conducted school forum meetings, which attended five intermediate and secondary schools for Burao solid west management awareness raisin g program. The general objective was “improve municipal solid waste service delivery & sanitation in five municipalities in Somaliland”. Cesvi, under the agreement with UN-Habitat, provides support for the improvement of the solid waste management in Burao city through an effective partnership with SOYVO.
The program was join activities including; Drama performances, student committees training, teacher training, discussions, public speech, distribution sanitation tools, and drawing competition on solid west and its risks for community and school environment. The beneficiaries school names are; Sheikh Bashir, Sheikh Osman Nuur, Togdheer, Mahud A. Ali, and Osman Abdi Ali.

SOYVO has taken part the Celebration of World AIDS day on 1st Dec celebration 2009. The theme this year is “Universal access and Human rights” with the slogan, the theme of World AIDS Day this year is so important.

Somaliland Youth Livelihood Program

Education Development Center (EDC) and SOYVO share a similar vision concerning the strong potential of training, career counseling and work experience to improve livelihood outcomes for Somali youth: Both parties believe that market-driven learning and hands-on experience combined with mobile phone-based livelihoods information services can enhance young Somalis’ ability to find work and training—thereby improving their economic and social conditions dramatically. As a result, through a sub-award agreement with EDC, SOYVO is to develop and implement a training and placement program for literacy & numeracy, work readiness skills that supports SYLP’s goals and leverages the Souktel text messaging/online job match system.

LITERECY & NUMERACY Courses Rural AREA in Togdheer region

SOYVO started the implementation of LITERECY & NUMERACY Courses Rural AREA in Togdheer region targeted group are approximately 200 women above 15 years of age, in Odwayne, Hara-sheikh, Magalo-Yar and Qoryale, and 1000 indirect beneficiaries (it is assumed that each person will pass what she has learned to approximately 6 people from her family). Funded by Caritas

During the monitoring time the team was attended the classes and used CARITAS monitoring form of Non-Formal-Education to collect the information and sometimes it was possible to interview the students, teachers and CEC’s. Finally we conducted the level three test and fortunately at the end of the project 173 students have been completed in Magalo-yar, Hara-sheikh, Oodweyne, Qoryale.

The ongoing drought due to the failure of the Deyr 2008 is already having a significant impact on People’s livelihoods and household economy, with a high rate of livestock losses, a collapse of Livestock markets, a drastic reduction of milk production, and an increase of cereal prices. The Situation becomes more serious when moving from the village to village region to region for the whole country.

SOYVO organized football tournament Named {SOYVO CUP}, for the young people is apart of the SOYVO’s yearly activity In July, 2008. which is intended for promoting the young people and using sports in the areas of Health, and awareness raising against the youth who are traveling from Somaliald to abroad with risk of lives.

Six serial A teams from Burao district were participated the tournament Illays, Caafi, D/hoose, Nesco, Police, Daalo, held in Alamzey stadium Burao. These teams were faced each other , and The final was quite harder then Illays and Caafi Dubai and Daalo confronted the competition; the final that the spectators were waiting it was a great battle, wrestling and a hard struggle finally won by Illays While it was awarded the best team and handed the cup by the MOE representative with great triumph.

PEACE CUP IN AINABO DISTRICT

In April 2008 seven teams from Wadama-goo, oog and Ainabo were attended this tournament which held in Ainabo stadium. Our aim of this activity is to encourage individuals, youth groups and communities in the district to contemplate and communicate thoughts and sports promotion on how to achieve peace. as well creates through this opportunity awareness concerning drug abuse and the dangers of violence behaviors for the youth.

Football tournaments for the young people is apart of the SOYVO’s yearly activity. in 2007, April we organized footbaal tournament named, {SOYVO CUP}, which is iamed for promoting the young people in the areas of Health, and using sports as peace building promotion. Eight teams from Wadama-goo, Oog, and Ainabo, which are serial-B, were participated this tournament on 08—16 April 2007, held in Ainabo district through nock out system. These teams were faced two by two by (knockout system).The final was quite harder then Dubai and Daalo confronted the last game; the final that the spectators were waiting it was a great battle, wrestling and a hard struggle finally won by Dubai from Wadama-goo. While it was awarded the best team and handed the cup by the Ainabo Mayor with great triumph.

DAY OF AFRICAN CHILD IN BURAO ON 16 JUNE 2006

Sixteenth (16th) of June was celebrated by the SOYVO in solidarity to young people in the African continent as the Day of the African Child (DAC). The commemoration was globally celebrated starting in 1991. DAC was first noted in Somaliland in 1993. SOYVO Youth group in Burao, every year took part in the cermony of DAC, to achaive and make awareness for protecting neglected children. Last June 16, 2006, SOYVO organized different activities including, Dinner meeting, and Public speech in Khaeria. which participated many people who came from diffrent sectors in the community. including Governor and Mayor in Togdheer and respct person Hadraawi.

Alternate approach to basic education (AABE) program

December, 2006 SOYVO has, implemented very useful project named Alternative approach basic primary education, project in Togdheer region which funded by ACTION AID INTERNATIONAL SOMALILAND (AAIS). This alternate approach to basic education (AABE) program targets Quranic schools in rural and urban area, specially age group with equivalent of grades (1 to 4) level formal education, and tries to adequate centers for their needs.

UNICEF has constructed three twin latrines for Taban taabo school

SOYVO , involves education program for IDP children. And it has knowledge and experience and accommodated around 300 students in Taban—Taban school. And UNICEF has contributed them to construct five tents and threewe twin latrienes in Burao and Wadama-goo village. after SOYVO assessed the needs of education for the community in Oqubo village. We found that mostly of the children, who are living this village do not go to school. Because of lack facilities and their parent’s couldn’t able to pay school facility, including fee for school, uniform. see more
